Yale Smashes Syracuse 6-1

San Diego, CA - The Yale women's tennis team quickly rebounded from last Saturday's loss to Rice University by systematically shattering Syracuse University 6-1. Yale now boasts a 9-2 season record.

The Elis cruised to five wins on the singles court.  No. 1 singles Reshmi Srinath led the team with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Victoria Vaynberg. 

No. 2 Rashmee Patil was immediately challenged by Catherine Zawadzki.  Zawadzki managed a 3-6 in the first set, however Patil came back strong, going 6-4 in the second set and then clinching the victory in the final set 10-6. 

Aimee Kim dominated the No. 3 position, winning in straight sets 7-6, 3-0 ret.   No. 4 Christine Alford also won in straight sets, easily coasting to a definitive 6-1, 6-1 victory. In the No. 6 spot, Olivia Nix also had an exceptional game, winning 6-1, 6-0.

Although Yale lost the No. 1 doubles game 8-6, the Elis triumphed in the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches.  Stephanie White and Nix won the No. 2 doubles spot 9-8(8), and Srinath and Patil went 8-6 to claim victory in the No. 3 spot.

The Elis will remain in California to face the 50^th ranked University of San Diego on Weds., Mar. 16.
