NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's tennis team lost 5-2 to the Quakers of Penn today to open their Ivy League schedule. Both Aimee Kim and Janet Kim picked up wins in singles for the Bulldogs (5-7, 0-1), but it wasn't enough to stop Penn (7-4, 2-0).
Despite a hard-fought, excruciatingly close match at No. 1 doubles, Olivia Nix and Rashmee Patil eventually fell to Yulia Rivelis and Julia Koulbitskaya, 9-7. The Bulldogs nearly pulled off a win in No. 3 doubles as well, with Lindsey Dashiell and Janet Kim losing to Michelle Mitchell and Caroline Stanislawski in a very close 8-6 match.
Despite Aimee Kim's 6-4, 6-4 win over Koulbitskaya in No. 2 singles and Janet Kim's 6-2, 6-1 thrashing of Mitchell at No. 3, the Bulldogs were never really able to get any closer, and will have to regroup before they face Princeton tomorrow.
The Bulldogs and Tigers square off at 12:30 p.m.
