No. 44 Yale Rolls to 7-0 Win over Cornell

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - No. 44 Yale improved to 3-1 in the Ivy League and 12-5 overall with a 7-0 win over Cornell at home Friday. With the victory, the Bulldogs extended their home winning streak to 18 matches.

The Bulldogs won the doubles point by winning two of three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, freshman Vicky Brook and sophomore Lindsay Clark defeated Natalia Sanchez and Sinziana Chis 8-4. Senior Janet Kim and junior Jessica Rhee rolled to an 8-2 win over Shayna Miller and Stephanie Kent at No. 2 doubles.

Yale won singles matches at No. 1 through 4 singles in straight sets. Playing No. 1 singles, No. 124 Kim cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sanchez. Rhee won 6-2, 6-2 over Kent at the No. 2 singles spot. At No. 3 singles, Brook rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Elizabeth Googe. Clark handled her opponent 6-0, 7-6 (4) at No. 4 singles.

Playing No. 5 singles, sophomore Stevi Petrelli pulled out a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 victory over Miller. At the No. 6 singles spot, junior Sarah Lederhandler battled to a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 win over Ruxandra Dumitrescu.

Yale will host Columbia Saturday.
