Kim Wins B Flight at Yale Invitational

New Haven, CT - Aimee Kim won the B flight in singles to highlight Yale's performance at the Yale Fall Invitational this weekend. Kim beat Columbia's Lauren Shearer 3-6, 6-0, 10-6 Sunday in the championship.

As the No.5 seed, Kim's run began with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-1 win over Syracuse's Ashley Lipton. She then beat teammate Olivia Nix, the No. 7 seed, 6-3, 6-0, in the quarters and Columbia's Kara Worsley 6-4, 6-1 in the semis.

Yale had three of the four players in the semifinals of the A flight, with Janet Kim topping Rashmee Patil 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 to advance to the finals against Columbia's Milena Kachar, who beat Christina Cutter 6-1, 6-4. Kachar edged Kim 4-6, 7-5, 10-7 for the title. Ashley Miles also competed in the A flight, falling to Kachar in the quarterfinals 7-5, 6-3.

In the C flight, Karolina Grygierowska lost in the round of 16 to Syracuse's Carolina Huignard 6-0, 6-3. Catherine Starr advance to the quarterfinals before falling to Columbia's Nina Suda 6-2, 6-0.

In doubles competition, Cutter and Miles and Nix and Patil both fell in the quarterfinals. Aimee Kim and Janet Kim lost in the semis to Syracuse's Victoria Vaynberg and Catherine Zawadzki 8-2.
