Oct. 10, 2004
Flushing, N.Y. - After stumbling on Saturday, the Elis came back strong, going 7-4 overall and 6-2 in singles at the USTA National Tennis Center Women's College Invitational. Senior captain Stephanie White helped set the tone, winning both of her matches against opponents from Army and NC State in C singles consolation play.
Senior Reshmi Srinath continued her strong play from Saturday, picking up a straight sets win against Penn State in A singles consolation action. Sophomore Rashmee Patil equaled her teammate's feat, earning a straight sets win of her own against the Nittany Lions. Juliette Vartikar was victorious, beating an Army opponent in E singles consolation play. Vartikar also teamed up with freshman Catherine Starr for an 8-2 doubles win over NC State before falling to Arkansas.
"I was much more pleased with today's results compared to yesterday," head coach Chad Skorupka said. "We still have two more weeks to prepare for our fall season-ending competition."
The Bulldogs return to action on Oct. 22, when they head to Philadelphia, Penn. for the ITA East Regional.
