HANOVER, N.H. - Yale women's tennis completed a very successful day at the East Regionals on Sunday in Hanover, N.H. Janet Kim and Jessica Rhee advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles, and Kim advanced to the Round of 16 in singles.
The duo took down Princeton's No. 1 doubles team of Ivana King and Melissa Saiontz by an 8-3 score in the Round of 16, propelling the Bulldog team into the doubles quarterfinals.
In singles, Kim blitzed her way through her two matches today, routing King 6-0, 6-2, and Sacred Heart's Pam Pillo, 6-0, 6-0. Rhee put up a good fight in the second set of her singles match, but ultimately fell to William and Mary's Klaudyna Kasztelaniec, 6-0, 6-4.
"She was one point away from going up 4-1 in the second set," Head Coach Danielle Lund said. "She definitely could have won it."
She continued, "That was a little disappointing, but they're both really excited for doubles tomorrow, and Janet is really excited for singles."
