NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Olivia Nix '07 was recently re-elected as team captain for the 2007 Yale women's tennis team. Other recipients of team awards included Rashmee Patil '07, Janet Kim '09 and Lilian Nguyen '09.
Though plagued with injuries toward the end of the season, Nix was still able to post an 8-2 doubles record in non-league play with partner Rashmee Patil. Patil was the co-recipient of the Lisa Rosenblum Award, voted on by teammates and given to the player who has contributed the most to the team during the season. Patil posted an impressive 8-3 doubles record in non-Ivy play and was a solid 4-3 in league singles play at No. 1.
The other recipient of the Rosenblum Award was Janet Kim, who went undefeated in singles in the Ivy League playing three matches in the No. 3 slot and four in the No. 2 slot. Kim also posted an impressive 11-4 overall doubles record this season.
Rounding out the award recipients was Lilian Nguyen '09, who received the John A. Blum award as the most improved player. Nguyen was a solid 5-3 in non-league play, playing mostly in the No. 6 slot.
In addition to being named next year's captain, Nix was also honored with the team's special contribution award.
