Yale Hosts Springtime Invitational
Final Regular Season Meet
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale hosted the last regular meet of the season on a cold, rainy Sunday. It was the last home meet for the seniors. Most of the Bulldogs who competed at Penn Relays in the past few days did not compete on Sunday. Many schools such as So. Connecticut State, Sacred Heart, and Ivy League rivals Dartmouth and Columbia came to the meet.
In field events, freshman Antonia Renker finished 10th in the discus throw (35.21m). In the pole vault, freshman Jenna Poggi finished eighth (3.40m) and senior Bailey Carroll was 14th (3.25m). Junior Eve King was 15th in the long jump (4.78m) and sophomore Micha'le Simmons was 12th in the triple jump (10.10m). In the high jump junior Emily Standish was sixth (1.60m) and King was 11th (1.45m). In the javelin King and freshman Emily Anderberg were 16th and 17th respectively.
Freshman Dakota McCoy finished third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.24), and eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.83).
In the sprints, several Bulldogs competed very well. In the 100-meter dash sophomore Marieme Mbaye finished second in12.51, and sophomore Emily Shulan finished fourth in 12.73. In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Emily Shulan was second (26.02) and Mbaye was fourth (26.29).
Many Bulldogs raced in the 1,500-meter run, and several finished in a pack from third to sixth: freshman Elizabeth Marvin (4:43.93), sophomore Jennifer Downing (4:46.13), freshman Victoria Flannery (4:47.30) and sophomore Madeline Adams (4:48.27). Sophomore Jocelyn Rodriguez competed in the 3000-meter run and finished ninth (10:57.13).
Yale performed very well in the relays. The 4x100-meter team finished first in 47.32 and the 4x400-meter relay team finished second in their competition in 4:03.18.
The Bulldogs will be competing two weeks from now at the Heptagonal Championships at Princeton May 8 and 9.
