Lovelace Qualifies for Nationals in Steeplechase
Cadicamo Competes in 5,000-meter Run
GREENSOBORO, N.C. – On the final day of
NCAA Regional Championships, sophomore Anne Lovelace qualified for
nationals in a close race in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Senior
Alexandra Cadicamo also competed in the 5,000-meter run.
Lovelace placed third in her heat to notch the last qualifying spot, edging Duke's Emily Schwitzer by only two-hundredeths of a second. Her time of 10:32.92 placed her 13th overall. The steeplechase was originally scheduled for Friday night but was postponed to Saturday due to inclement weather.
In the 5,000-meter run, Cadicamo clocked in 16.41.48 to come in 20th place overall.
Lovelace and senior Kate Grace will compete for the Bulldogs at the NCAA National Championships on June 9-12. The track and field committee will post the list of national qualifiers by May 30 at ncaa.com.
