NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) officially announced the Division I Outdoor Track & Field All-American athletes. Junior Kate Grace has been honored for her seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run on Friday the 11th. A total of 428 individuals were named All-American for their top-eight finishes at the NCAA Championships last weekend.

Grace ran 2:05.92 on Friday in the finals for seventh place, which was a good follow-up to her time of 2:05.32 in the semifinals two days earlier. Grace's best time this season – and the school record in the 800-meter outdoors – is 2:04.22.

This was Grace's first time as an outdoor All-American, and her third time competing at outdoor NCAAs. In 2009 Grace was also All-American indoors in the 800-meter run. She holds the school record in that event as well, at 2:04.72. Grace is also a four-time first team All-Ivy honoree (twice indoors and twice outdoors) in the 800-meter run.

"From the beginning of the year it was our goal to make the finals at outdoor nationals," said Coach Young, the Mark T. Young '68 Director of Cross Country and Track & Field. "Because we wanted to improve, and though she could work on cutting down her time, the only way for her to improve in the competitive world was to make the finals at NCAAs. It was a terrific accomplishment, and we're looking forward to next year."
