First Meet of the Year Will Take Place at Coxe Cage

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a long winter break, and an even longer break from competition, the Yale women's track and field team will host nearly two dozen schools in the College Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogs last competed on Dec. 4, when they hosted the Lidlifter Invitational, also at Coxe Cage.

"We use this first meet as a chance to get ourselves back into a competitive mode after a long winter break," said head coach David Shoehalter, the Mark T. Young '68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field.  "It is our expectation that everyone was able to get quality work done during their time away from campus, and this meet will give us a chance to see what needs to be worked on over the next couple of weeks."

The Bulldogs will expect strong performances from All-American senior Kate Grace, who was named Female Athlete of the Week by following her dramatic sweep of two events in the Lidlifter Invitational. Grace won both the 1,000-meter run and the 800-meter run, which took place within an hour of each other, by sizeable margins. She also participated in the 4x400 meter relay, helping her team to a second-place finish.

Field events will begin at 9:00 a.m. and track events will start at noon. Click for a full Meet Schedule. Results will be posted on and as soon as they are available.
