Two Decisive Wins on Saturday
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Kate Grace was again selected as the Female Athlete of the Week by Hepstrack.com. At Saturday's tri-meet against Columbia and Dartmouth, Grace won both the 800-meter run and the mile run. She helped lead her team to second place overall. An All-American in the 800-meter run outdoors, Grace is the current school record holder in the 800-meter run indoors, and is also on the all-time top ten list for the 1,000-meter run.
The middle-distance phenom was in her element on Saturday night, winning two events and earning third as a member of a relay team. Grace, who is an All-American in the 800-meter run, displayed her talent by winning this event in 2:11.88, just ahead Monica Adler of Dartmouth who finished second in 2:12.52.
The mile run also belonged to Grace, in 4:54.85. The best answer from the field came from Columbia's Emily Lanois in 4:55.99, but it was not enough to dethrone Grace.
Both of her times qualify her for the ECAC Championship meet in March.
Grace and the rest of her team will compete next in the Boston Indoor Games on Jan. 28.
