Team Led by Two Top-10 Field Finishes
PRINCETON, N.J. - The first cadre of Bulldogs competed in the Friday Night Races at the Sam Howell Invitational on Friday. Two Bulldogs placed in the top 10 of their field events, while two runners placed in the top 15. The Sam Howell Invitational continues on Saturday, when much of the rest of the team will compete.
Sophomore Teresa Parent came within 0.03 meters of her personal best in the long jump on Friday night. Her leap of 5.25m (17'2.75") allowed her to stake her claim to 10th place, just 0.02m longer than 11th place Samantha Osadacz of Georgian Court. Sophomore Amanda Snajder was 12th with a jump of 5.20m (17'0.75"). Freshman Elle Brunsdale was 23rd (4.43m - 14'6.5").
Junior Antonia Renker was another high-scoring Bulldog. She picked up 10th place in the discus throw with a toss of 34.33m (112'7").
Sophomore Sarah Barry placed 14th in the elite edition of the 1,500-meter run, a race filled with professional athletes. Though she was 14th overall, Barry was actually the seventh-fastest collegian in the race, as professional athletes claimed the first six spots. Her time of 4:31.05 was good for fifth in her heat.
In the 10,000-meter run, junior Jennifer Donnelly was 14th in 37:32.83. She was able to out-kick Lara Shegoski of Johns Hopkins University by just over four seconds.
