Track and Field to Travel to Larry Ellis Invitational
Elite Competition Features More Than 30 Teams
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's track and field team returns to New Jersey this Friday and Saturday to compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton. The Bulldogs competed at Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational earlier this month. More than 30 teams will compete over the course of the weekend, including schools from as far as New Hampshire, Rhode Island and West Virginia. Additionally, each Ivy League school will send a squad, giving Yale a chance to preview where it might place during Heps next month.
Friday's competition will feature elite races with faster qualifying standards. 10 Bulldogs will race in three elite races on Friday. Junior Annelies Gamble will try to lower her season best of 2:09.93 in the 800-meter run. Sophomore Sarah Barry, sophomore Melissa Chapman, freshman Kira Garry, junior Nihal Kayali and senior Lindsey Raymond will race in the 1,500-meter run. Junior Elizabeth Marvin, junior Jennifer Donnelly and sophomore Liana Epstein will compete in the 5,000-meter run.
Additionally, freshman Anna Demaree, senior Anne Lovelace and sophomore Rachel O'Driscoll will contest Saturday's edition of the 1,500-meter run. Barry, Kayali and junior Allison Rue will compete in the 800-meter run. Junior Victoria Flannery, sophomore Clare Kane and Lovelace will race in the 3,000-meter run.
Sophomore Emily Urciuoli will compete in the pole vault after tying her personal best of 12'3.75" last weekend against Harvard. Junior Adele Jackson-Gibson and sophomore Teresa Parent will participate in the long jump and freshman Elle Brunsdale, freshman Alisha Jordan and sophomore Kristen Proe will compete in the triple jump.
Four hurdlers will represent Yale at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Sophomore Amanda Snajder will race in the 100-meter hurdles while freshman Emily Cable, who was a part of three wins against Harvard, junior Dakota McCoy and junior Jenna Poggi will compete in the 400-meter hurdles.
Senior Alexa Monti will be the lone Bulldog competing in an individual sprint race when she competes in the 100-meter dash. Monti will also join Cable, Jackson-Gibson and senior Emily Shulan in the 4x100-meter relay and will combine with Cable, Poggi and Rue for a total of four laps in the 4x400-meter relay. Gamble, senior captain Gabriella Kelly, McCoy and Snajder will also make up a 4x400-meter relay team.
