Snajder Competes in Final Heptathlon Events

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-This Saturday marked the second of three competition days of the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships. The Bulldogs competed in only two events, with the remainder to be contended on Sunday.

Junior Amanda Snajder finished the last three events of the seven included in the heptathlon. Her best finish on Saturday was in the high jump, in which she placed fourth. On Sunday, she finished in the top 10 in both the javelin throw and long jump. Her final event was the 800-meter run. Her mark in the javelin throw topped her best time in the open event. Snajder's final score for the heptathlon was 4410 points, claiming her tenth place. She already holds the second-best score for the heptathlon in Yale history.

Four athletes also competed in the preliminary round of the 4x400-meter relay. The squad of four is one that has run together in the event for the majority of the season. Sophomore Emily Cable, junior Kelsey Lin, freshman Shannon McDonnell, and senior Allison Rue took thirteenth place out of a field of 25 teams. The four finished in 3:47.10, a vast improvement over their previous best time. With this time, they are catapulted to the 3rd spot on the top 10 lists, where they had previously not even been listed.
