NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's track and field team completed its first day of competition at the annual Giegengack Invitational. Schools from across the northeast came to compete in this unscored two-day meet. The underclassmen on the team had a stellar night with a number of personal best performances that bode well for the near future.

The night started with senior captain Kate Simon, who placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 16.39m (53-09.25). Though she was not able to improve upon her previous mark, Simon has consistently thrown very well for the Bulldogs. She has yet to place outside of the top three this entire season. Meanwhile, sophomore Evelyn Roberts was able to further improve upon her previous personal best with a final mark of 15.41m (50-06.75) to finish in fifth. Roberts also moves up to eighth on Yale's all-time top 10 performances.

Many members of the freshman class had strong performances on Friday evening. Freshman Natasha Feshbach made huge gains in the long jump, logging a new personal best jump of 5.42m (17-09.5) to place second overall.

Meanwhile, freshman Olivia Mooney notched a win in the high jump with a new personal best leap of 1.66m (5-05.25). Freshman Elizabeth Adelson was not able to match such a leap, but was still able to clear 1.58m (5-02.25) to claim fourth. The pair of high jumpers have made some of the best high jump performance that the team have seen in a while though they are just in their freshman years.

Finally, freshman Lillian Enes had a commendable performance in the 200-meter dash, finishing fifth overall with a time of 25.90s.

The night capped off with a solid performance by the relay team of freshman Lauren Chapey & Arianna Lord and seniors Delaney FitzPatrick and Chandler Olson that took home the win for the Bulldogs. This distance medley relay squad crossed the finish line in 11:59.8 for the win.

The events will continue on Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m. The rest of the results will be posted as they become available.
