NEW HAVEN, Conn. – This Saturday the Yale women's track and field team will host its first meet of 2018 at Coxe Cage: the Yale Collegiate Invitational. In its 36th running, the meet brings together dozens of local competitors for what is the first week any team will be competing. This truly is the heart of the winter season, with big meets against Harvard-Princeton and Dartmouth-Columbia just on the horizon in the coming weeks.

The meet will likely feature a large number of the underclassmen, particularly the first years as they get acquainted with competing at the college level. The day kicks off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday with the throwing events. First year Alladia Patterson had an impressive performance at the Yale Season Opener last month, throwing for a distance of almost 12.00m, at 11.82m (38-09.50) during her debut. She will look to top that this coming weekend. Meanwhile, junior Evelyn Roberts nabbed a personal best in the weight throw with a toss of 15.77m (51-09). Other field athletes who will likely compete this weekend include first year pole vaulter Erin Gerardo, who won this event at the team's last meet, as well as first year jumper Tessa Malone, among other underclassmen.

The running events kick off at 11:30 a.m. Some of the underclassmen to watch throughout the day include first years Chloe Jensen and Megan Quimby. While both placed well in their debut race, they were not in too competitive a field. Addison Coy also performed well, logging a time of 1:16.33 in the 500-meter run. In the longer distances, the team might opt to debut first year phenoms Kayley DeLay and Sevanne Ghazarian ahead of HYP and YDC to get their feet wet.

Results of the meet will be posted as soon as they become available on Saturday as there will not be any live results. A full list of entries will also be available here as soon as it is finalized.

Fans can catch the Bulldogs by taking a shuttle from Payne Whitney Gym. A schedule of that shuttle can be found here, while the schedule can be found here.
