Today marked the start of competition for the two day ECAC Championships. The Bulldogs focused in on two different running events today, the 1,500 meters and the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

In the 1,500 meters, seniors Melissa Fairchild and Dana Klein came back from racing this same event just a few days ago at the West Point Twilight meet. In a competitive field, Klein placed 15th with a 4:30.63 and Fairchild was closely behind, coming in 21st with a time of 4:33.37.

Senior Katherine Raphael represented Yale in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and she pulled out a tremendous effort to place 5th and cut her personal best down to a 10:32.91. This performance earned Raphael a medal, the fourth fastest time ever run at Yale, and she will be recognized with All-East honors. Raphael has consistently dropped time in this event throughout the season, and today's race was a testament to her strong work ethic and a smart racing plan.

The ECAC Championship action will continue tomorrow with first year Alladia Patterson throwing the discus at 12:30 p.m.
