NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale cross country and track and field program will be adding an outstanding group of first year athletes for the 2018-19 season.
With the conclusion of the 2017-18 track and field campaign, the Bulldogs look ahead to the next season. The team will be bolstered by the addition of 14 new athletes from across the globe that boast impressive athletic accomplishments. The incoming first year athletes will add to a contingent of underclassmen who have demonstrated their ability to compete at a high level in the Ivy League. In an impressive fashion, Addison Coy won the 400 meter hurdles at the Ivy League Championship, a rare occurrence for a first year athlete. A 4x400 meter relay team composed solely of first years and sophomores also ran the second-best time ever recorded at Yale this past season.
The future of the Yale cross country and track and field program is clearly bright, especially in light of the new additions from the Class of 2022. The program will welcome seven to the sprints and jumps event groups and seven to the middle-distance and distance program. The incoming athletes enter Yale with a myriad of accolades, featuring a national record holder, many state champions, and national competition qualifiers.
The talented entering class has the potential to make an immediate impact on the program both on and off the track. On the track, their athletic accomplishments so far speak for themselves. Off the track, these athletes have many academic and extracurricular accolades. Several were also elected captains of their high school teams.
