Bulldogs Finish 2nd at URI Invitational

The Elis had a strong showing at the URI Invitational, with Yale's distance runners posting impressive performances at the competition. The Elis earned five first place finishes, three of them being in longer-distance events.

Vanessa Mazandi came in first by over seven seconds in the 1,000 meter run, earning a time of 2:56.30 to beat Janeen Shepard from Maine, who posted a 3:03.42. In the one mile run, Melissa Donais won with a time of 4:59.48, while Anne Martin finished fourth with 5:06.95.

Yale dominated the 3,000 meter run, earning four of the top six spots. Emily Vince won the event in 10:16.69, while Lauren Davis finished third with a time of 10:20.05. Katie McKinstry and Jaclyn Meeyers finished fifth and sixth.

The Elis' 4x800 relay team also ran to a first place finish in 9:22.83, and Molly Lederman and Ashley Nolet captured the first and second spots in the pole vault.

Bulldog Joslyn Woodard also had an impressive day, finishing 2nd in the 55-meter dash and 2nd in the long jump.
