New York, N.Y. - The Bulldogs finished the first day of competition at Indoor Heps tied for fourth place with 12 points. It was a day of narrow misses as many barely missed qualifying for finals, but Lindsay Donaldson (Lincoln, Mass.), Jennifer Lin (Raynham, Mass.) and Meredith Leenhouts (Franklin, Mass.) got the job done.
Donaldson qualified provisionally for nationals as she placed second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:33.36. She ran alone in the unseeded section, winning her heat by 1:30, but was beaten by Toni Salucci of Cornell, who ran a faster time in the seeded section (16:24.44).
Lin was fourth in the pentathlon with 3,386, scoring over 800 points in the 60-meter hurdles (814) and the 800-meter run (807). Her remaining scores were 455 in the shot put, 527 in the long jump and 783 in the high jump.
In the 800-meter run, Leenhouts qualified for finals, finishing third in her heat with a time of 2:12.18.
Cornell finished the day in the lead with 54 points, with Harvard second (28 points). Competition resumes Sunday morning.
