Freshman Lindsay Donaldson finished fourth in the 3000-meter run at the NCAA Championships, held in the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas. The only freshman to qualify for the event, Donaldson ran a time of 9:24.70.

Donaldson entered the championships with the fifth seed, and constituted the fourth straight NCAA Indoor Championship appearance by a Yale woman.

Colorado's Renee Metivier, a senior, won the event in 9:22.81, and another senior, Texas-El Paso's Adriana Pirtea, earned second with 9:23.58. Princeton junior Cack Ferrell edged out Donaldson with a 9:24.20 time, while Kathleen Trotter, a sophomore from Stanford, finished in 9:26.10 to round out the top five finishers.
