NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Ivy League announced the 2009 All-Ivy honorees for the outdoor track and field season Tuesday following the Heptagonals Championships at Penn this past weekend. The selections are based solely on first or second place performances at the meet - athletes who win their events earn first-team recognition, while athletes who place second become second-team honorees.
Sophomore Kate Grace earned first-team All-Ivy honors for her win in the 800-meter run. She finished in 2:09.01, beating her nearest competitor by just .17 seconds. Grace was also honored with first-team All-Ivy status for her performance in the 800-meter run at the indoor Heptagonals in March, and was second-team All-Ivy outdoors in 2008. Grace is also an All-American in the event, and has qualified for NCAA regional championships, which will be May 29-30 in Greensboro, N.C.
A complete list of All-Ivy selections can be found here.
Grace will compete this weekend (May 15-17) at Princeton in the ECAC Championships along with several of her teammates.
