Complete 2010 Yale volleyball schedule

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A trip to the West Coast for the Cal State Fullerton Tournament highlights the 2010 Yale volleyball schedule. In addition, the Bulldogs will play 11 matches in the friendly confines of the John J. Lee Amphitheater, where they have posted an impressive 31-5 record in the last three years.

The season kicks off with the Yale Invitational. Yale hosts Stony Brook on Sept. 3 before taking on Quinnipiac and Rhode Island the following day. The first of back-to-back weekend trips takes the Bulldogs to the Long Island Tournament on Sept. 10-11. Yale faces NJIT, Georgetown of the Big East and a Long Island team that has captured the last six Northeast Conference titles.

In California on Sept. 17-18, the Bulldogs meet up with Liberty, which won 20 games a year ago, West Virginia and perennial West Coast power Cal State Fullerton. The trip will serve as a homecoming for the five California natives on the Yale roster.

Yale and Albany meet in a home-and-home series on Sept. 24-25. The Great Danes visit Lee Amphitheater on Sept. 24 before hosting the Bulldogs the next day.

The 14-game Ivy League season gets under way at Brown on Oct. 1. The Bears then come to New Haven the following night. Yale is at defending Ivy champion Penn on Oct. 8 before traveling to Princeton on Oct. 9.

The first Ivy home weekend sees visits from Cornell (Oct. 15) and Columbia (Oct. 16). Yale then heads back to the road to meet Harvard on Oct. 22 and Dartmouth on Oct. 23.

A four-match homestand in October starts with a visit from Princeton on Oct. 29 and Penn the next day, and concludes when Dartmouth and Harvard come to town Nov. 5 and 6. The Harvard match will be Senior Night, when senior captain and four-year starter Kelly Ozurovich will be honored

The regular season ends with the grueling trip to Columbia and Cornell on Nov. 12-13.

Yale finished with a 21-4 overall record and an 11-3 Ivy League mark last fall.
