Bulldogs Drop Pair at Fullerton; Polan Named to All-Tournament Team

Bulldogs Fall to West Virginia and Cal State Fullerton

The Bulldogs dropped matches to West Virginia and Cal State Fullerton on the final day of the Fullerton Classic.  In the opener, the Bulldogs fell, 3-1, to the Mountaineers, and lost to the host Titans in on Saturday night in Fullerton, Calif.  Freshman setter Kendall Polan continued her successful play and was named to the all-tournament team for the Bulldogs, who are now 5-4 on the season.

Polan had 30 assists, nine digs and three kills in the loss to Cal State Fullerton.  Earlier in the day, Polan posted 41 assists, 20 digs and three kills in the four-set match against West Virginia. 

Bridget Hearst had a team-high 14 kills for Yale in both matches for Yale, and Erica Reetz added 11 in each match. 

Similar to Friday night's match against Liberty, the Bulldogs lost a tight first set.  The Mountaineers took the first set, 27-25.  The set featured 14 tied scores. The Bulldogs followed with a 25-17 victory in the second with a .231 team hitting percentage.

The Mountaineers (10-5) took control in the third with a 25-17 win, and captured the fourth set 25-20.

Katie Cordell and Kelly Ozurovich were defensive standouts for the Bulldogs, with 32 and 24 digs respectively.

In the nightcap, the Titans (10-3) swept the Bulldogs, 27-25, 25-14, 25-22. 

Ozurovich tallied 18 digs, while Reetz added 10 for Yale.

The Bulldogs return home to host Albany this Friday at 7 p.m.
