Frappier Finishes with Double-Double Against Great Danes

Albany, N.Y. -- Despite forcing two sets to extra points, the Bulldogs lost 3-0 at Albany on Wednesday night in their final regular season non-conference match of 2011.  The Bulldogs open the Ivy League season against Brown at 4 p.m. on Saturday in New Haven.

The scores were 33-31, 25-13 and 29-27.

Allie Frappier notched a double-double – 10 kills and 13 digs – to lead Yale, which fell to 6-4 on the season.  In addition, Kendall Polan had 34 assists, 12 digs and three kills, while Taylor Cramm had six kills and hit .600 on the night.

The Bulldogs trailed 24-21 in the first set before freshman Mollie Rogers started a run.  Rogers smashed four kills in a row to put Yale at set point.

Dunja Prgomet responed to tie the set for Albany.  Polan struck for a kill to put Yale on the brink of taking the set.  From there, the teams traded points until the set was tied again after an Albany error.

Casey Wright and Brooke Stanley had back-to-back kills to give Albany the set.

The Great Danes (6-7) took the momentum from the first into the second.

Albany scored 10 of the first 12 points of the second and never lost control of the set.

In the third, Cramm opened the set with a kill and led Yale to 4-1 lead.  Albany would re-take the lead later in the set before Yale went on a 6-1 to tie the match at 23.

McHaney Carter, Cramm, Polan, Erica Reetz, and Rogers would all provide kills during the spurt to keep the Bulldogs alive in the match.  Reetz finished with six kills and a team-high 17 digs.

From there, the match would be tied three more times – for the last time after an Albany service error.  Prgomet and an attack error would follow to give Albany the set and the match.
