Frappier Posts Double-Double in Loss

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Despite a double-double performance from Allie Frappier, the Bulldogs lost at Princeton, 3-1, on Friday night.  The scores of the match were 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-20.

Frappier posted a team-high 17 kills and added 14 digs, while Mollie Rogers had 13 kills and nine digs.  It wasn't enough to overcome the Tigers tonight.

The opening set was a sign of things to come – Yale came close to winning the set but fell short.

With the set tied at 22, Princeton scored consecutive points on a Cathryn Quinn kill and an attack error.  Maddie Rudnick responded with a kill before Quinn ended the set.

The second set was also close.  Lydia Rudnick, who notched a match-high 25 kills, tied the set at 17.

The Bulldogs (11-5, 4-1 Ivy) had an answer this time.  Maddie Rudnick set up Frappier and Kendall Polan assisted on a McHaney Carter blast to give Yale a 19-17 lead.

Polan finished with 40 assists, 11 digs and five kills.

It was a lead Yale would not give up.  Bridget Hearst wrapped up the set with one of her six kills.

In a pivotal third set, Haley Wessels gave the Bulldogs a 13-9 lead with a kill.  Princeton came back with four straight points.

The set would be tied two more times before the Tigers broke off three straight to take an 18-15 lead and eventually take the set.

With Princeton up 23-17 in the fourth, Rogers provided a kill and Yale capitalized on an error to pull within four and force a Tigers timeout.  Lydia Rudnick followed with a kill, Rogers responded and Sarah Hannah ended the match for Princeton.

The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow at Penn.  The match time is set for 5 p.m.
