Yale Travels to Rhode Island on April 20

The Yale women's volleyball team competed in its first spring tournament of 2013 at the University of Connecticut last Saturday, defeating Boston College and New Hampshire while splitting with host Connecticut and Providence.

"Overall it was good day," Yale associate head coach Kevin Laseau said. "I think we were a little slow to get started in our first match (against Connecticut) and then kinda lost focus later (against Providence), but not bad for four practices."

On the day, sophomore Mollie Rogers led the Bulldogs offensively with 26 kills (.340), with junior McHaney Carter notching 19 (.327).  Junior Kendall Polan, along with freshmen Jesse Ebner and Maya Midzik all hit over .300 on the day as well.

"It's great to see that kind of offensive performance," Laseau said. "But really I liked our defense, too. There were a lot of points where we were just able to dig, set, and attack longer than the other team could. That's nice consistency."

Yale is next in action April 20 when they travel to Rhode Island for their final spring competition.
