Bulldogs Play Inside Pentagon against No. 8 Stanford on Friday
Arlington, Va. -- The Bulldogs received a rare first-hand inside one of the nation's most symbolic buildings on Thursday.
The Bulldogs, their coaches and staff received a private tour inside the Pentagon. After passing multiple checkpoints, the Bulldogs saw special rooms, historic displays and impressive monuments to commemorate different aspects of the military.
Led by Army and Air Force personnel, the group went inside places such as the Pentagon Hall of Heros. The room honors the military personnel awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military honor.
The tour also included the 9/11 Memorial wing to memorialize the attack on the Pentagon. Inside the room, team members signed their names and wrote a message that will eventually be sent to the families of the 184 people who died - both inside the building and on the plane -- during the 9/11 attacks at the Pentagon.
The team practiced at the Pentagon Athletic Center, then crossed though the outdoor center of the building and had lunch inside the Pentagon. Afterwards, the team watched the Stanford-Air Force match.
Later in the evening, the team attended a banquet for the four teams invited to play in the Armed Services Challenge.
On Friday, the Bulldogs will face No. 8 Stanford at 10 a.m., and return to the court to face Air Force at 6 p.m. Stanford defeated Air Force, 3-0, on Thursday afternoon.
