Steinberg Named Ivy Rookie of the Week
Freshman Records 27 Kills in As Yale Collects Two Wins
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Freshman Brittani Steinberg turned heads with 15 kills in her Yale debut against Missouri. In her second week of college play, the Ivy League has taken notice.
Steinberg was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week after smashing 27 kills in three matches - including 10 in a loss to No. 8 Stanford.
"Brittani had an impressive weekend," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said. "She came up big against No. 8 Stanford and really let us compete at a high level."
Steinberg had 10 kills in a four-set victory over Army and added seven more in a sweep of Air Force as the Bulldogs finished 2-1 at the Armed Services Challenge at the Pentagon.
Yale, now 4-2 overall, will continue its challenging non-conference schedule this weekend. The Bulldogs return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Penn State Tournament. Yale faces No, Penn State, along with Eastern Kentucky and Albany.
