Bulldogs Face No. 1 Penn State This Weekend

Five Bulldogs Averaging at Least 2 Kills a Set

University Park, Pa. -- The challenges keep coming in the Yale Volleyball schedule.  The Bulldogs travel to University Park, Pa., this weekend to take on No. 1 Penn State as part of the Penn State Classic.

The two-day event kicks off on Friday for the Bulldogs with a matchup against Eastern Kentucky (4-6) at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs will face Albany at 1 p.m.  Yale takes on No. 1 Penn State at 8 p.m.

Yale went 2-1 last weekend at the Pentagon, improved its record to 4-2 overall and moved up to 49th in the Pablo Rankings.  The ranking represents the Bulldogs highest spot in a national rating system since it finished 30th in the NCAA RPI in 2008.

Brittni Steinberg continues her impressive freshman year with the Bulldogs.  Steinberg earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week after collecting 27 kills last weekend in matches against No. 8 Stanford, Air Force and Army.

Serving has been a strength for the Bulldogs, who enter this week fifth in the nation in aces per set.  Team captain Kendall Polan is tied for sixth in the nation with a .59 assist per set average with 13 aces this season.

Mollie Rogers leads the team with a 2.95 kills per set average and is one of five Bulldogs who average at least two kills per set.  Steinberg (2.68), Jesse Ebner (2.27), Kelly Johnson (2.14) and McHaney Carter (2.06) also average at least two per set.
