NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- For the 12th straight season, the Yale women's volleyball program earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award.
The award covers the 2017-2018 academic year and honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
"Our program takes great pride representing a world-class university - both on and off the court," Yale head coach Erin Appleman said. "This award recognizes their hard work in the classroom."
The Bulldogs won their sixth Ivy League title in the last eight years and finished last season 16-8 overall and 10-4 in league play. Yale had five All-Ivy selections last season -- and all are returning for the up-coming season.
Yale opens the 2018 season on August 31st against Fairfield in New Haven.
