NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Bulldogs dominated the net and first-year Ellis DeJardin shined in her Yale debut in a season-opening 3-0 win over Fairfield on Friday night.
The scores of the match were 25-19, 25-13 and 25-16.
Facing Fairfield for the first time since 2009, the Bulldogs led for most of the match before an energized home crowd. After closing out the first set, the Bulldogs hit .500 in the second set and .355 in the third with 15 kills on 31 swings.
Yale held a 11-3 total block advantage. Destiny Daniel had a team-high six blocks for the Bulldogs.
Since 2013, Yale is 45-9 at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow with two more home matches. Yale hosts Central Connecticut State at 1 p.m. and Quinnpiac at 7 p.m.
