Bulldogs Travel to Rhode Island for Weekend Invite

This Weekend's Highlights

  • Yale has started the season 3-0 for the third year in a row.
  • This weekend marks the Bulldogs' first road matches of the season.

Art Carmichael Invitational 

The Bulldogs travel for the first time this season with a weekend trip to the University Rhode Island to compete in the Art Carmichael Invitational.  Yale will face Army-West Point, New Hampshire and host URI.  The Bulldogs defeated URI last year in New Haven.  The weekend kicks off for Yale on Friday with a 4 p.m. match against Army-West Point.  On Saturday, the Bulldogs will face New Hampshire at 11 a.m. and host URI at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out

Last weekend, the Bulldogs won all three matches as part of the Battle of Connecticut.  Yale swept home matches against Fairfield, Central Connecticut State and Quinnipiac, and is now 47-9 at the John J. Lee Amphitheater since the start of the 2013 season.  Frances Arnautou, Ellis DeJardin and Tristin Kott were named to the all-tournament team.  

DeJardin Named Ivy Rookie of the Week

First-year Ellis DeJardin was anamed Ivy League Rookie of the Week following Yale's 3-0 start to the season last weekend.  DeJardin led the team in kills in all three victories and had 19 digs. 

Dishing Out Assists

Junior Frances Arnautou averaged nearly 11 assists a game last weekend in Yale's three victories, including 40 assists in a three-set win over Central Connecticut State.  She now has 1,177 assists in her Yale career.

DeJardin Makes NCAA Volleyball Top-5 Play

First-year Ellis DeJardin earned social media recognition by NCAA Volleyball this week.  Her behind-the-back, one-handed save and point against Central Connecticut State was named among the nation's top-five plays from last week.  Here's the Twitter post:

Block Out

The Bulldogs had 18 block assists in the victory over Fairfield last Friday.  Yale had an 11-3 advantage in the match.  Destiny Daniel led the way with a solo block and six total blocks for Yale. 

Up Next

The Bulldogs will travel to Orlando, Fla., next weekend to compete at a two-day tournament hosted by the University of Central Florida.
