Bulldogs Fall to FGCU on Friday Afternoon

ORLANDO, FLA. -- Kate Swanson posted a season-best 25 digs and Ellis DeJardin led the Bulldogs with 12 kills in a 3-1 loss to Florida Gulf Coast on Friday afternoon.  Yale returns to action at 6 p.m. this evening to face Alabama State in day one of the VolleyKnights Invitational.  

The scores of the match were 25-19, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-14.  Yale is now 5-2 on the season with two matches left before the start of Ivy League play.

After dropping the first set, Samantha Bray and Kelley Wirth sparked a second-set surge and combined for seven kills to give the Bulldogs the second set.  Yale connected on seven of their first 19 swings of the set without an error.

Wirth, an All-Ivy Honorable Mention last season, finished with a season-high 10 kills.  DeJardin added 14 digs for her second double-double of the season.  

Kathryn Attr finished with eight digs and seven kills, while Gray Malias added six digs.
