Bulldogs Sweep Columbia, Earn NCAA Tournament Berth

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- A night after clinching their ninth Ivy League title in the last 15 years, the Bulldogs secured the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 win over Columbia on Saturday.  

The Bulldogs (19-4, 13-1 Ivy) will find out their NCAA Tournament when the field is announced on Sunday, November 25 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU.  

The scores of tonight's match were 25-20, 34-32, and 25-15.  Three Bulldogs reached double-digits in kills -- Ellis DeJardin (14), Samantha Bray (12) and Kelley Wirth (12).

In a thrilling second set that saw 66 combined points, Wirth had nine kills and hit .300, while DeJardin had eight kills, a .389 hitting percentage and added six digs. 

Prior to the match, the Bulldogs honored their five seniors Kate Aitkenhead, Shreya Dixit, Gray Malias, Wirth and Kate Swanson.  In their time at Yale, the five student-athletes have 69 total victories, a 43-13 record against Ivy League opponents and a 37-5 mark in home matches.
