Cat Dailey Named Ivy League Player of the Week

Nov. 18, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After guiding the Yale volleyball team to its third Ivy League Title in program history, Yale junior outside hitter Cat Dailey has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week. Dailey compiled 41 kills and 37 digs in eight sets of work as the Bulldogs dispatched Penn and Princeton to lock up the outright Ancient Eight crown this weekend.

In Friday's five-set thriller at Penn, Dailey notched the match-best 22 kills and set a career high while sharing the team-high 25 digs with sophomore libero Kelly Ozurovich. Dailey rounded out her stat line with an assist and two blocks.

The junior crushed a match-high 19 kills, including the championship-winning kill, in Saturday's title-clinching sweep at Princeton. She also recorded 12 digs to post her 12th double-double of the season. Dailey wrapped up the weekend with two assists, four blocks (three solo) and a service ace.

Dailey was previously honored as Ivy League Player of the Week after home victories over Dartmouth and Harvard on Oct. 10 and 11. She is the only player to earn Player of the Week laurels on more than one occasion this season. As a team, Yale led the way in 2008 with four Player of the Week nods.

Additionally, freshman Taylor Cramm earned a spot on the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll. Cramm dominated the net with 15 blocks without committing a blocking error on the weekend. She led the Bulldogs with 11 blocks, including three solo, in a five-set win at Penn, and also chipped in with six kills and a dig. In Saturday's sweep at Princeton, Cramm had a hand in four more blocks.

Dailey, Cramm and the Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 25, as they travel to southern California for a match with No. 17 San Diego. Yale wraps up the regular season in Los Angeles on Saturday, Nov. 29 at Loyola Marymount. The Ivy League Champion Bulldogs will learn their NCAA Tournament destination on Sunday, Nov. 30.
