Bulldogs Compete at NCAA Regionals
Lovelace Yale’s First Finisher
Boston, Mass. – The Yale cross country team competed in its last meet of the season on Saturday. Boston University hosted the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at Franklin Park. Of the 43 teams in the Northeast Region, 35 competed and Yale finished 15th with 474 points.
It was a dreary, rainy day for the competition, and a high school meet earlier in the morning meant that the course was especially muddy. Syracuse won the meet with 59 points, led by meet champion Katie Hursey, who finished in 21:57.
Sophomore Anne Lovelace was again Yale’s top runner, finishing the 6k in 23:58. A close pack followed her, composed of junior Liya Assefa (24:23), freshman Nihal Kayali (24:25), and senior Alexandra Cadicamo (24:27). Seniors Stephany Pearl (24:33) and Stephany Reaves (24:35) and freshman Caitlin Hudson (25:00) rounded out the Bulldogs’ top seven.
This was the last meet for the Bulldogs after a long season. The indoor track season will begin on Dec. 5 with the Lidlifter Invitational at Yale’s Coxe Cage.
