Track Association Celebrates Annual Dinner and Honors Mark Young
Over 150 student-athletes, alumni and friends gathered at the Yale Club of New York City to celebrate the annual Track Association dinner and honor retiring coach, Mark Young ’68, for his incredible service to his alma mater.

Anne Lovelace Elected Captain for 2011 Season
The women’s cross country team held its annual season-end banquet on Tuesday, Dec. 7. Junior Anne Lovelace was elected captain for next year and sophomore Elizabeth Marvin was awarded the women’s cross country award.

David Shoehalter Begins Role as Yale’s Mark T. Young ‘68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field
With the start of the track and field season this coming Saturday, David Shoehalter officially takes over the Bulldogs’ program as the Mark T. Young ’68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field. Shoehalter, who has helped build the program in his 16 seasons as a coach at Yale, succeeds legendary Yale coach Mark Young ’68 in the director’s position. In addition to Shoehalter’s promotion, the Bulldogs also promoted assistant coach Marc Davis to head coach of the men’s track and field team.

Yale Places 11th at NCAA Northeast Regional
The women’s cross country team placed a solid 11th out of 35 teams at the NCAA Northeast Regional meet this Saturday at Hammonasset State Park. The team was led once again by sophomore Elizabeth Marvin, who placed 33rd among 247 runners, with freshman Sarah Barry turning in her biggest race of the season , placing second on the team and 56th overall.

Bulldogs Will Co-Host and Compete in NCAA Northeast Regional Meet
The women’s cross country team will co-host the NCAA Division I Cross Country Northeast Regional meet this Saturday, along with Fairfield University. The team will be joined by 37 other schools from New England and New York State to vie for spots in the NCAA Championship meet on Monday, Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.

Bulldogs Compete in Ivy League Championships
The Bulldogs traveled to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. on Friday to compete against the rest of the Ivy League in the Heptagonal Championships. Yale placed eighth with 182 points. Sophomore Elizabeth Marvin was the first Bulldog to cross the line in 25th place (18:03.93) out of 93 runners.

Cross Country to Compete in Ivy League Championships
On Friday, Oct. 29, the Bulldogs will compete in the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships (Heps) at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. For many Bulldogs, this race represents the height of their season, as Ivy League rivalries often do for Yale teams.

Yale Ranked Eighth in Northeast Region
The Yale womens cross country team has cracked the top ten of the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Northeast region rankings, jumping to eighth place as of Monday, Oct. 18. Their No. 8 spot represents the highest position held by a previously unranked team this season.

Bulldogs Place Eighth at Competitive Penn State National
The women's cross country team finished eight out of thirty-one teams at the Penn State National meet, including No. 1 Villanova, No. 7 Syracuse, and No. 30 Penn State. Junior Jennifer Downing led the Bulldogs in 44th place overall at 21:52.

Bulldogs Travel to New England Championships this Weekend
This weekend, the Yale womens cross country team will travel to Boston to race in the New England Championships at Franklin Park. While the teams frontrunners will rest up for the Penn State National meet next weekend, this weeks races will give more members a chance to compete. Junior Maddie Adams, senior Liya Assefa, freshman Millie Chapman, freshman Wendy DeWolfe, sophomore Jenny Donnelly, junior Jen Downing, sophomore Phoebe Gaston, sophomore Caitlin Hudson, junior Kristin Johnson, freshman Clare Kane, sophomore Jacque Sahlberg, and senior Celia Stockwell will all suit up for the Bulldogs.

Bulldogs Place Third at Harvard-Yale-Princeton
The Bulldogs faced a challenging meet on Saturday at home with fellow Ivy League schools Princeton and Harvard in the 34th year of the tri-meet. Although they finished third with 68 points, several underclassmen stepped up to lead the Bulldogs. Freshmen Melissa Chapman and Sarah Barry also had breakthrough races.

The Bulldogs will host fellow Ivy League schools Harvard and Princeton in the 34th annual Harvard-Yale-Princeton meet at home on Friday. Although both teams pose a challenge for the Bulldogs, head coach Mark Young '68, the Mark T. Young '68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, said that the annual event has brought out some of the best performances in past years.

Kane Leads Bulldogs at Quinnipiac
Several Bulldogs who did not compete at last weekends Dartmouth Invitational had their first race of the season at Saturdays Quinnipiac Invitational. The Bulldogs placed third with 79 points. Head coach Mark Young 68, Yale's Mark T. Young '68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, said the meet was a good opportunity for them to get a race in before hosting the Harvard-Yale-Princeton meet next week.

The Bulldogs opened their season with a third-place finish at the Dartmouth Invitational with 68 points. Although they fell off from an aggressive start to the race, several runners put on strong performances after recovering from injuries the past year.

Mark Young 68 to Retire After Cross Country Season
Mark Young 68, Yales Mark T. Young 68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, announced on Friday that he will retire from that position at the conclusion of the upcoming cross country season. Young, who is entering his 31st season as a coach at Yale, will remain with the program coaching the womens track and field teams distance and middle distance runners through the spring. Associate head coach David Shoehalter will be Yales new Mark T. Young 68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field.
