    David Shoehalter Begins Role as Yale’s Mark T. Young ‘68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field With the start of the track and field season this coming Saturday, David Shoehalter officially takes over the Bulldogs’ program as the Mark T. Young ’68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field. Shoehalter, who has helped build the program in his 16 seasons as a coach at Yale, succeeds legendary Yale coach Mark Young ’68 in the director’s position. In addition to Shoehalter’s promotion, the Bulldogs also promoted assistant coach Marc Davis to head coach of the men’s track and field team.

    Yale Places 11th at NCAA Northeast Regional The women’s cross country team placed a solid 11th out of 35 teams at the NCAA Northeast Regional meet this Saturday at Hammonasset State Park. The team was led once again by sophomore Elizabeth Marvin, who placed 33rd among 247 runners, with freshman Sarah Barry turning in her biggest race of the season , placing second on the team and 56th overall.

    Bulldogs Will Co-Host and Compete in NCAA Northeast Regional Meet The women’s cross country team will co-host the NCAA Division I Cross Country Northeast Regional meet this Saturday, along with Fairfield University. The team will be joined by 37 other schools from New England and New York State to vie for spots in the NCAA Championship meet on Monday, Nov. 22 in Terre Haute, Ind.

    Bulldogs Compete in Ivy League Championships The Bulldogs traveled to Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. on Friday to compete against the rest of the Ivy League in the Heptagonal Championships. Yale placed eighth with 182 points. Sophomore Elizabeth Marvin was the first Bulldog to cross the line in 25th place (18:03.93) out of 93 runners.

    Bulldogs Travel to New England Championships this Weekend This weekend, the Yale women’s cross country team will travel to Boston to race in the New England Championships at Franklin Park. While the team’s frontrunners will rest up for the Penn State National meet next weekend, this week’s races will give more members a chance to compete. Junior Maddie Adams, senior Liya Assefa, freshman Millie Chapman, freshman Wendy DeWolfe, sophomore Jenny Donnelly, junior Jen Downing, sophomore Phoebe Gaston, sophomore Caitlin Hudson, junior Kristin Johnson, freshman Clare Kane, sophomore Jacque Sahlberg, and senior Celia Stockwell will all suit up for the Bulldogs.

    Mark Young ‘68 to Retire After Cross Country Season Mark Young ’68, Yale’s Mark T. Young ’68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, announced on Friday that he will retire from that position at the conclusion of the upcoming cross country season. Young, who is entering his 31st season as a coach at Yale, will remain with the program coaching the women’s track and field team’s distance and middle distance runners through the spring. Associate head coach David Shoehalter will be Yale’s new Mark T. Young ’68 Director of Cross Country and Track and Field.
