Large Meet is Chance to Gain Experience
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Coming off of their precipitous rise to third place in the Northeast regional rankings on Monday, the Yale women's cross country team will compete in the New England Championships on Saturday. Almost half of the Bulldogs who will race are in their first collegiate season and will gain valuable experience at the meet, one of the largest of the season. 47 teams and 322 athletes competed in the 2010 New England Championships; last year's Bulldogs placed eighth. The meet will be held at Franklin Park in Boston, where Yale competed against Harvard and Princeton on Sept. 17.
The team will see some fresh faces on Saturday. Freshmen Anna Demaree, Samantha Fry and Alyssa LaGuardia will represent the Bulldogs along with senior Madeline Adams, sophomore Sarah Barry, junior Victoria Flannery, senior Kristin Johnson, senior captain Anne Lovelace, sophomore Rachel O'Driscoll and senior Lindsey Raymond.
The rest of the team will rest until the Princeton Invitational on Oct. 15 and Heps on Oct. 29.
The women's varsity 5k will start at 12:30 p.m. The meet website will have results when they are available, as will www.yalebulldogs.com.
