NEW HAVEN, Conn.—This fall, Yale women's cross country will kick off its season in September—starting in Boston with a meet hosted by Harvard at Franklin Park. The meet is hosted annually at alternating sites. Last year marked the second time in a row that Yale bested its long-time rival at the meet, so the energy is sure to be high this year as the Bulldogs toe the starting line.

Competition will continue in September with the Iona Meet of Champions in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Although the Bulldogs have not competed in the Meet of Champions since 2009, the course is a familiar one that the team has competed on in the recent past: last year in the Fordham Fiasco Meet. The meet will take place on September 21st. This practice on the course should bear well for the Bulldogs, as this year's NCAA regional meet will also take place in Van Cortlandt Park. The Bulldogs will then return to Franklin Park on the 27th for a meet hosted by Boston College.

On October 12th, the team will return to the New England Championships, having competed in the meet the previous year. The following Saturday, the team will compete on another familiar course in Madison, Wisc. at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational. At the 2012 meet, the team proved its worth with a spectacular showing, in which a squad of seven runners overcame nationally ranked teams to finish in 13th place.

On October 25th, the Bulldogs will have a chance to defend a title won last year at the CCSU Mini Meet in New Britain, Conn. The Bulldogs will return to Central Connecticut State University this year to race in Stanley Quarter Park.

The championship season will begin in November with the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship on November 2nd in Princeton, N.J. The course at West Windsor Fields has been the site of the Heptagonal Championships for the past two years. Last year, the team finished fifth in the meet. The NCAA Regional Meet—taking place at Van Cortlandt Park—will be held on November 15th, and will be followed by the NCAA Championship meet in Terre Haute, Ind. at the LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course the Saturday after. Although the team did not qualify for this final meet in 2012, the Bulldogs are sure to return with a renewed thirst to qualify for the championship meet in 2013. They will be aided by seven new Bulldogs who are joining the team's ranks this year. Check back next week for a preview of the incoming freshmen.
