NEW HAVEN, Conn.-This past Friday, the Yale Women's Cross Country Team was recognized as one of 217 women's cross country teams to receive the distinction of Division I Cross Country All-Academic status.
To qualify for the award, teams "must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship." Yale's team GPA came to an impressive 3.58, on par with Harvard and greater than the collective GPA of any other Ivy League listed (all eight Ivy League schools received the distinction).
At the NCAA Regional Championship during the 2013 cross country season, the Bulldogs place 13th, beating out 27 teams in the Northeast Region. Junior Kira Garry, senior Millie Chapman and freshman Meredith Rizzo were the top performers at the meet. The 2013 season was undoubtedly one for the team to grow in its depth and strength looking forward, with many frontrunners returning to the competition next year.
