NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's cross country team will run this Saturday, Nov. 17, at the ECAC championship at Van Cortlandt Park (Bronx, N.Y.) in the last race of the season before beginning the indoor track season. Given the Bulldogs' performance at the NCAA Northeast Regional championship, where they finished a solid 10th, the ECAC championship could be a great note to finish the 2007-2008 cross country season.
Yale has performed strongly at the ECAC championship in the past, highlighted by a team title in 2004 and an individual victory by former cross country captain Katie McKinstry in 2005. The Bulldogs have finished no worse than sixth in the past four years at ECACs.
With the Bulldogs coming off a strong team performance last week at regionals, there is reason to believe that this year could add to Yale's already impressive history at ECACs. Seniors Kelli Buck and Ingrid Sproll both tallied their highest team finishes of the season last week, and with seniors Meredith Leenhouts, Elizabeth Calle and junior Kathryn Schleckser close behind, Van Cortlandt Park might be the site of Yale's greatest team performance of the season.
Results will be available Saturday at http://www.ecacsports.com/sports/fall/wxc/index.
