Box Score Big Red In Town Saturday At 7 p.m.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale and Cornell each has played overtime in
their first two Ivy League games. The difference is the Big Red
escaped with ties in both games, while the Bulldogs were on the
wrong end of heartbreaking defeats. As a result, fans could be in
for a little bonus soccer when the two teams meet on Saturday.
Kickoff at Reese Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
Five of Yale's 11 games have gone into overtime, including three
of the last four. On Tuesday, the Bulldogs (3-5-3, 0-2 Ivy) used a
Brad Rose goal with 3:32 left in the second half to force the extra
periods en route to a 1-1 tie. Rose leads the team with four
assists and is tied with Scott Armbrust for the team lead in points
with 10. Goalkeeper Travis Chulick continued his excellent play on
Tuesday, finishing with six saves. In his last four games, Chulick
has an impressive .821 save percentage.
Cornell (5-3-3, 0-0-2 Ivy) also features a strong goalkeeper in
Scott Brody, who leads the Ivy League with 56 saves. The Big Red
tied Penn 2-2 in its Ivy opener on Oct. 3 and then played a 1-1
draw with Harvard last Saturday. Sophomore Chase Aaronson has made
a huge impact in his first season with the Big Red. He came to
Cornell to run on the track and field team but was added to the
men's soccer roster in the preseason. Aaronson, a sprinter on the
track team, has used his speed to his advantage, scoring a
team-best three goals this season to lead. The Big Red is
under the direction of first-year head coach Jaro Zawislan, who had
been an assistant at Syracuse.
Yale blanked Cornell 3-0 last year in Ithaca. Frank
Piasta, Charlie Neil and Chris Dennen each scored for the Bulldogs,
who lead the all-time series 39-23-14.
