Box Score PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was Senior Day at Brown's Stevenson Field on Saturday, and two players making their final home appearance in the stadium played a key role in deciding the outcome. Ben Maurey scored the only goal at 73:04, and goalkeeper Mitch Kupstas made four saves to record the shutout as the Bears edged the Bulldogs 1-0.
Maurey's goal came when he was able to gain control of a clearing attempt from Yale keeper Blake Brown. Maurey lofted a high shot from 25 yards out that Brown got a little piece of but not enough of to keep it from trickling into the net.
It was another close, Ivy League game for the Bulldogs. Five of Yale's six league game have either ended in a tie or been decided by one goal.
Yale had a couple of chance to tie after Maurey's goal, including back-to-back corner kicks in the 79th minute.
Henry Albrecht had the last opportunity but his shot went high at 83:25.
Brown outshot Yale 11-10, but the Bulldogs had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.
Yale wraps up the season next Saturday at home against Princeton. Kickoff at Reese Stadium is slated for 3 p.m. Yale's four seniors – Brown, Peter Ambiel, Conner Lachenbruch and Kevin Michalak – will be honored prior to kickoff.
