BLACKSBURG, Va. – The first day of competition at the 2014 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships is in the books, with Yale's two divers, sophomore Danielle DeNunzio and freshman Lilybet MacRae, both delivering solid performances.
Monday featured the preliminaries and finals in the one-meter competition. In the preliminaries, MacRae placed sixth with a 255.55, good enough to qualify for the afternoon's finals. DeNunzio was unable to qualify in the highly competitive field, posting a 203.55 to finish in 37th place.
In the afternoon's finals, MacRae vaulted past three divers to claim third place overall with a combined score of 541.15. With six divers qualifying from this meet to the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis next week, MacRae has put herself in a good position after the first day.

Tomorrow will feature the three-meter competition, with preliminaries beginning at 12:00 p.m. and finals starting at 2:30 p.m.
