Box Score NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Different players stepped up in different sets to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-0 victory over Princeton on Saturday night at the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
The scores of the match were 26-24, 25-22 and 25-21. Yale swept both home games this weekend and improved to 10-6 overall and 5-2 in conference. Princeton is now 8-8 and 3-4 in the Ivy League.
Kelley Wirth led a balanced attack with 12 kills and added five digs, while Maya Midzik added 10 kills and hit .412. Wirth and Midzik were the hitting stars to lift the Bulldogs to a narrow game one victory.
Wirth had five kills and Midzik had four in the opening set. Midzik tied the set at 22 and Steinberg gave the Yale the lead with a kill on the next point. Wirth broke a 23-all tie, then Princeton answered to tie the set for the tenth time.
Jesse Ebner, who had seven kills without an error, gave the Bulldogs the lead, and teamed with Meaghan Truman on a block assist to close out the set.
Midzik had five kills on six swings in the second set. The Bulldogs hit .310 in the set. Kelly Johnson had 10 assists on 13 kills in the second.
In the third, Ebner had four kills, four digs, two blocks and hit .500. Wirth and Ebner went back-to-back with kills to close out the match.
The Bulldogs return to action at Brown on Friday for a 7 p.m. start.
