ITHACA, N.Y. —The No. 2 ranked Yale men's squash team has started off its weekend strong with a victory over No.10 Cornell that left the Bulldogs with a 3-1 record for the season so far.
The Yale men showed strength from top to bottom, earning eight wins against the Big Red. Excitement was palpable throughout the venue as seven of the Bulldogs' wins were gained in three straight sets.
Junior Arjun Kochhar gave the crowd some excitement from the No. 6 spot when he clinched his second game in a back-and-forth rally that finished with a 14-12 score. Kochhar went on to win the set in his third game.
The victory leaves Yale 2-0 in the Ivy League and puts the Bulldogs in a good position going up against No. 5 Columbia tomorrow at noon.
The match will be pivotal for the Bulldogs, who fell to the Lions in the Ivy League Scrimmages in November. A victory would place Yale in a fantastic position within Ivy League play, and set the team up nicely in pursuit of an Ivy Championship.
Sunday's match will be held in New York City at StreetSquash NYC at 12 p.m.
