Box Score Tigers Score Once In Each Half
Two teams that were very strong in non-conference play went at it on Saturday, and it was No. 16 Princeton that earned the very early upper hand in the race for the Ivy League title. The Tigers scored once in each half en route to a 2-0 victory on an unusually mild early autumn day at Roberts Stadium.
Mimi Asom got Princeton on the board early when she worked her way through the defense into the box and fired a shot inside the left post at 13:21.
The Bulldogs had some opportunities to get the equalizer but couldn't convert.
The Tigers then sealed the win late when Olivia Kane finished a cross from within the six-yard box at 84:28.
Princeton (8-1, 1-0 Ivy) posted its seventh shutout of the season.
The Tigers had a 14-5 edge in shots.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Fagel stopped four shots for the Bulldogs.
Yale (6-3-1, 0-1 Ivy) returns to the friendly confines of Reese Stadium next Saturday to host Harvard at 7 p.m.
