NEW HAVEN, Conn- The Yale women's tennis continued its hot start to the season, beating crosstown rivals Quinnipiac by a score of 6-1.
The Bulldogs came out swinging, winning its first 5 singles matchups to start the day. Samantha Martinelli and Elizabeth Zordani dropped two games apiece on their way to straight-set victories. Caroline Amos, Sunday Swett, and Amy Yang also had straightforward two-set wins, with Amos coming out on top in a thrilling 6-4, 7-5 match against the Bobcats' No. 4 Layla Rodriguez.
Doubles was no different; the team swept its three matches to claim the doubles point. Martinelli and Zordani teamed up to bagel Quinnipiac's No. 1 team, while first-year Mimi Levine played for the first time this spring, teaming up with Amos to win their match 6-2. Swett and Yang were the third pair, winning 6-4.
With this win, the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the young season and is looking to extend its perfect season against the Boston Universy Terriers at 1:00 PM tomorrow.
